3 Teacup Water For boiling
500 Grams Beef - Mince Wash and boil
4 Medium Potatoes Boil, peel skin and make cubes.
0.5 Teaspoon Mustard Seed (Sarson) Broil on tawa
12 Nos. Chillies Kashmir Remove stems and broil
0.5 Teaspoon Jeera (Cumin Seeds) Broil on tawa and grind
1 Tablespoon Coriander(Dhania) Broil on tawa and grind
1 Nos. Onion sliced - Broil on tawa and grind
3 Flakes/Cloves Garlic (Lason, Losun) Broil on tawa and grind
10 Nos. Pepper Corns Broil on tawa and grind
0.5 Nos. Coconut scraped (fresh) Broil on tawa and grind
1 Inch Turmeric/Haldi Broil on tawa and grind
1 Ball Tamarind Remove seeds and fiber. Grind
A Little Salt To Taste
5 Medium Chillies Green Stems removed - grind
1 Teaspoon Garam-Masala To be added to ground masala
3 Tablespoon Ghee For Frying
1 Tablespoon Cooking Oil For frying sliced onion
0.5 Nos. Onion Make slices for seasoning.
2 Teacup Dhal, Masoor Boil and add to meat.

 

Method

Wash and par boil half a kilogram of Beef Mince, and when cooked drain the water and keep aside.   

Boil   4 medium potatoes - water level should be a little above the potatoes.   When done, peel the skins and slice into cubes and keep aside.

Broil separately on a thawa each masala, scraped coconut and sliced onion except tamarind.  Grind all the masala to a fine paste.   Keep aside.

Pour three tablespoons of ghee in a cooking pot, and heat it.  Slice one  onion and brown it in the hot ghee.  then add the par boiled minced beef.  Cook  the meat in its own gravy till browned, in the covered pot.  

Then add 2-3 cups of boiling water and 2 cups Masoor dhal previously washed.  When the meat and dhal are cooked well, add the ground  masala. With a little water to the meat, if the level has gone below.  Always the liquid should be a little above the main stuff.

Heat the oil for seasoning in a large enough  pan, and fry half sliced onion.  Pour the meat with its gravy into the seasoning and cook.  Add diced  potatoes and salt to taste.
