Boa Morte - Holy Death
A unique festival commemorating the death of the Blesed Virgin Mary, before the feast of her Assumption into Heaven.
This is celebrated on 13th of August, which falls on a Sunday,
A preparatory prayer services are conducted for 14 days before the feast.
In a festive spiritl, the morning is celebrated in the 500 year old Church, at Candoli, in north Goa.
The simple devotion of the people, that has been going on for centuries, is still kept alive by the present generation, and tat is a blessing for Goa.
With the spirited singing and music, a favorite quality of the people of Goa is an inspiration for people of this country, when everywhere the culture goes into artifical mode, here is a true example of devotion, even though people being what they are they want to present themselves at their best, which can be excused.
The feast tops with stalls and best culinary efforts and it is a day to remember.
